How to Choose LED Power for Your Grow Space

LED wattage is only the starting point. What really matters is the photon density reaching the canopy (PPFD).

Wattage is not the key metric

LED wattage is only the starting point. Plant development is driven by the density of useful photons reaching the canopy (PPFD), uniformity across the growing area and the photoperiod you use.

Start with the usable grow area

Good planning starts by measuring or estimating the usable area, available height and CO₂ or ventilation level. You can then compare specifications in μmol/J and PAR maps to check whether a fixture covers the whole bench without dead zones or excessive peaks.

Uniformity and final sizing

At HortiBloom we design luminaires such as the Mega Optic range for penetration and even distribution. If you are choosing between two power levels, contact us and we will help you size the installation for your project.
